WE HAVE SERIOUS HEAT HERE IN NORTHERN ILLINOIS. INDEX OF 109F. SO HOT WE HAVE TO STAY IN. WHERE I LIVE THE SEASONS ARE EXTREME COLD,HOT,WINDY,RAINY....WHAT EVER IS IN THE FORECAST IT IS NEVER MILD HARDLY EVER. FOR A NICE HOT SUMMER DAY I LOVE MILD AND 70. I GUESS I NEED TO MOVE BACK TO ENGLAND OR UP NORTH TO CANADA. THANKS MOM FOR MAKING ME ENGLISH. WE ARE FAR NORTH IN THE US BUT WE ARE RIGHT WHERE THE CURRENT BLOWS THROUGH SO WE GET EXTREME EVERYTHING EVEN THOUGH THE SUMMERS ARE SHORT LIKE 8-10 WEEKS MAYBE 12 BUT BY THEN MID SEPTEMBER ITS COOLING DOWN AND THEN BY OCTOBER ITS AUTUMN. SO WE ARE GETTING SOME SERIOUS HEAT EARLY MAYBE WINTER WILL BE EARLY TOO.  I FEEL BAD FOR PEOPLE IN THE SOUTHERN STATES....  THEY HAVE IT MUCH WORSE THAN WE DO AS FAR AS HEAT IS CONCERNED. BEING IN THE NORTHERN MIDWEST IS EXCITING AS FAR AS WEATHER...... BUT THE HEAT CAN GO GO GO! AS DR SEUSS WOULD SAY.

You're dealing with what we would call close to desert-like temps, from the sounds of things. I sure hope people are going to be okay; intense heat like that has been known to take lives, so I hope you and your family will continue to take precautions. You're absolutely right about staying hydrated - water is absolutely critical now. I have trouble with intense heat like that, too, and I get very cranky when I can't get cool. I'm sooooooooo thankful that we have a dark, cool basement with only one small window!
